Used For

Dermatitis

How it works

The active ingredient is desonide, is a low-potency topical corticosteroid that works by reducing the body’s inflammatory and immune responses in the skin. This helps to relieve symptoms like redness, swelling, and itching associated with various skin conditions.

Usage And Safety

Dosage

A thin layer of desonide Cream or Ointment should be applied to the affected skin thoroughly covering the area. The usual dosage is two to three times daily ; however, this may be increased in the treatment of refractory cases.

Side Effects

Common side effects include mild skin irritation, burning, stinging, itching, dryness, and potential skin thinning with prolonged use .

Drug Interactions

The risk of drug interactions with Denoside is low because it is a topical medication, but it can increase the likelihood of systemic side effects, such as elevated blood sugar levels, if used with oral steroids or certain diabetes medications.

Indication

DESONIDE topical preparations are intended for use in the management of acute or chronic dermatoses. They have been demonstrated to have anti- inflammatory activity when used topically in : Atopic Dermatitis , Contact Dermatitis (including Poison Ivy and Venenata) , Psoriasis , Eczema (including Nummular Eczema) , Neurodermatitis , Seborrheic Dermatitis , Lichen Simplex Chronicus (Lichen Planus) , Dyshidrosis , Acute Solar Dermatitis (Sunburn) , Statis Dermatitis .

It is also contraindicated in individuals with history of hypersensitivity to its components.

Precautions

Precaution

Topical corticosteroids should be used with caution on lesions close to the eye.
